Studio Open Days a lot of fun


Chatting with two art lovers at Open Day, 9 Nov.

Thanks to all who visited Jenny at her recently acquired external studio space at May Street Studios, 23 May St, St Peters, 7 and 9 November, 2009. Thursday evening and all day Saturday saw more than 200 people attend, with 21 artists showing their work.

Highly commended

November 2008: Jenny's Portrait of Hank (pastel and charcoal on Ingres paper) won a 'Highly Commended' citation for the Morag McMillan Drawing Award at the annual Royal Art Society Art School Exhibition, Sydney.

Self-portrait: finalist in 2008 Portia Geach Memorial Award

Self-portrait (oil on panel), was hung in the 2008 Portia Geach Memorial Award, the 'most prestigious portrait prize for female artists' in Australia. The exhibition ran from 3 October to 9 November 2008 at the S.H. Ervin Gallery, Watson Road (enter from Argyle Street), Observatory Hill, The Rocks, Sydney. The winner, announced on 2 October, was Jude Rae's Self-portrait 2008 (The year my husband left).

Marrickville Open Studio Trail (MOST), Saturday, 26 July 2008

About 30 people visited Jenny's studio on 26 July as part of the Marrickville Open Studio Trail. Two works were bought. The day was organised by Marrickville Council and included more than 100 artists operating out of more than 30 local studios. MOST was a parallel exhibition to the 2008 Biennale of Sydney. Sorrow

Some 50 people joined Jenny for the 3 June 2008 opening of her latest solo exhibition at the Buzzzbar Cafe, Newtown. Five works were purchased at the opening, including 1 oil painting, 1 watercolour and 3 etchings. Five more works were also sold before the show closed on 22 June.

'Highly Commended' award (November 2007)

Portrait of a writer won a 'Highly Commended' citation at the Royal Art Society's 2007 Art School Exhibition. Jenny also exhibited two life drawings, including Alice (pastel).

Critical future: A wildlife and conservation art exhibition (August 2007)

Jenny exhibited Proboscis monkey 1/4 (linocut). These quirky but gorgeous monkeys are critically endangered. Forty-three works were shown from 31 July to 17 August in this special group show at TAP Gallery, Darlinghurst. The show was held in conjunction with the simultaneous world premiere in 50 countries of a documentary film that describes the difficult and dangerous work carried out by Park Rangers around the world: The Thin Green Line.

Glebe Art Show (July 2007)

Jenny exhibited two paintings at this year's show, which ran from 29 June to 8 July 2007: Portrait of a writer (conte pencil, oil on canvas) and Spiky flowers (conte pencil, oil on board). This exhibition attracted its largest number of entries ever.

Xavier Art Space solo exhibition ends

Jenny met 25 guests on 12 September 2006 at Xavier Art Space, St Vincent's Hospital, Darlinghurst, as part of On the Wall: Diverse works on paper, her 5-week solo exhibition, which ran from 5 September to 12 October 2006. ...
