About the artist
Jenny began formally studying art in 1978, briefly attending the Alexander Mackie School of Art, now known as the College of Fine Arts (COFA).
In 1979 and 1980, she spent a year at St George Technical College School of Art, Kogarah, and a year at East Sydney Technical College School of Art, today the National Art School.
In the mid 1980s, she lived overseas for an extended period attending art classes and haunting caféssketchbook in handin San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury, Mission District and North Beach. Returning to Sydney, Jenny obtained her Diploma in Applied Science (Nursing) in 1987 and works to keep body and soul together as a Registered Nurse.
In the early 1990s Jenny left Australia again to experience life on the East Coast of the US, where she continued the practice of covertly sketching the locals in subways, cafés and corner bars in New York's Lower East Side and Chelsea.
Upon her return, she did casual study at the Royal Art Society in North Sydney, drawing and painting from life at the Brandling Street Painters Group in Alexandria, and learned printmaking from Tom Goulder and later Sandra Jakeman.
In recent years Jenny has done casual study with Ann Cape, Yve Close and Leyla Spencer at the Royal Art Society in North Sydney and Robert Ives at Willoughby Workshop Arts Centre. In September 2008 her Self-portrait was selected as a finalist in the 2008 Portia Geach Memorial Award.
Jenny was born in 1959 in Sydney.
